History
The first Church on the site was built in 1901. It was then called a 'Mission Church' and catered mainly for the people in the south part of the town. From its earliest days, it has always sought to have an important role to play in providing space for people to meet socially as well as for worship within the then small market town of Wickford.
In 1935 the construction of a dual purpose building took place, this provided much larger space for the growing community - a centre for social activities as well as for worship.

The present building was erected in 1964 by Messrs Carter and Ward. The original "Mission Church" (which can be seen on the right in this picture) was incorporated into the main church building and is now referred to as St Andrew's Church Centre.
In 1981 St Andrew's was dedicated as a parish church in its own right. Before that it had been a daughter church of St Catherine's Parish Church which is situated approximately one and a half miles away on the Southend Road, Wickford. St Andrew's became part of the Wickford and Runwell Team Ministry in 1982.The Church continues to play an important role in Wickford community life, offering space for both young and old alike.
